| 'Bundaleer': from the Ngadjuri language - meaning 'among the hills'. |
Bundaleer Brahmans was founded in 2001 by Richard, Cynthia & Nicholas Stark. At the time we were dairying at Kenilworth in Queensland's Sunshine Coast hinterland, originally purchasing two registered Lanjimana females from Leanna Prothero. This was intended as an interest for Nicholas but our passion for the cattle quickly grew resulting in a complete lifestyle change.
Two more females from Lugenor closely followed by some high grade commercial females joined our first purchase. The grey beefy bodies grazing amongst the black and white dairy herd. Twelve months later, at the Gympie Female Sale in June we purchased eleven females from Brahrock, Condor, Chesterfield, Amaroo, Grampians, Broonoodoo, Promiseland, Cruchfield & Silvermine. Jay-Way Stud was the source of our sire, a Datapak son, Jay-Way Rambler 105, his temperament has been exceptional.
With our stud now established the decision was made to sell our 343 acre Mary River property and 'get serious' about breeding stud cattle. We have settled on a 3830 acre property located just 30 klm from Munduberra on the Boondooma Road and is only 38 klm from Gayndah. Our lifestyle is now certainly very 'different'. Since the move, more females, from El-Ja, Brahrock, Chesterfield & Yenda have joined our herd, increasing numbers and improving quality.
Add another two bulls from El-Ja & Chesterfield combined with an AI programme using Bulls such as Datapak, Mr Manso 887/5, Mr Manso 984/1, FBC D Star Power, JDH Karu Manso and our stud is improving constantly. Our passion for showing started in 2003 with the stud sire, Jay-Way Rambler, winning supreme Champion. The show team has increased in size each year since. 2007 saw the Bundaleer team
take a broad ribbon at nearly every outing from 10 shows finishing with the double at Sunshine Coast - Grand Champion Bull & Grand Champion Female. The hard work with our breeding programme is paying off. Bundaleer has also seen success in the sale ring. The first year selling at RBWS week sold bulls for $4,500 & $5,000 following years have proved just as profitable. Happy buyers also quick to acknowledge the temperament and productivity of their purchases from Bundaleer. Many may ask why Brahmans? Aren't they the 'mad' cattle with the big hump?
Come and spend some time with them you'll soon realise just how smart and gentle these cattle can be, Wanting, waiting, expecting a scratch or tickle every time you visit them, easy to handle, once they know to look for a vehicle it makes checking on cows and calves simple - drive to the paddock, the cattle come to you. These lovable animals quickly get under your skin, and they become a passion!.
We hope you enjoy our website and stop in again soon. If you are out this way then do drop in, just look for the large shed covering our yards, it sure makes for a cool, dry muster. |
